EARTH-KIND® THE FAIRY PASTEL PINK SHRUB ROSE

Rosa 'The Fairy' is a classic Polyantha rose that has remained a garden favorite since its introduction in 1932. It is renowned for its incredible profusion of small, double, shell-pink flowers that bloom in large, airy clusters, resembling a soft pink cloud when in full flush. Unlike many roses that peak in early summer, 'The Fairy' is a late starter but compensates with a relentless display of blooms that continues well into autumn, often providing color long after other varieties have finished.

In the landscape, 'The Fairy' is a versatile ground-covering shrub, typically reaching 3 to 4 feet in height with a wider, graceful spread of 4 to 5 feet. Its arching branches and petite, glossy, fern-like foliage make it an ideal choice for softening low walls, filling mass plantings, or even cascading over the edges of large containers. It is exceptionally hardy and shade-tolerant compared to most roses, maintaining excellent disease resistance and requiring very little maintenance beyond a simple shearing in early spring to maintain its shape.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Ensure soil is well-draining. Water at the base (avoid getting leaves wet) to prevent fungal diseases. Prune in early spring. These are 'low-maintenance' roses. You can prune individually to shape, or, for large-scale mass plantings, you can use power shears to trim them back by one-third to encourage a flush of new, vigorous growth and continuous blooms.
