Zone: 5OPENING NIGHT™ HYBRID TEA ROSE
Rosa Opening Night™ Hybrid Tea rose is a true showstopper that lives up to its theatrical name with its deep, velvety red blooms. Introduced by Weeks Roses, this AARS winner is celebrated for its classic, high-centered form and its remarkable ability to hold its rich color without fading, even in the heat of a summer afternoon. The petals have a substantial, heavy substance that gives the flowers a crisp, formal appearance, often reaching a diameter of 4 to 5 inches. While its fragrance is light and delicate, its visual impact is undeniable, making it a premier choice for gardeners who prioritize the perfect "true red" rose for cutting and exhibition.
To keep Opening Night™ at center stage, it requires a prime, full-sun location with at least six to eight hours of direct light to ensure strong stems and continuous reblooming. It thrives in rich, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and benefits from a consistent fertilization schedule throughout the growing season to support its vigorous habit. In the landscape, its upright and bushy growth makes it an excellent choice for a formal rose bed or as a bold accent in a mixed perennial border. Because it produces such long, sturdy stems, it is best planted in a spot where you can easily access the blooms for indoor arrangements, where they can last for a week or more in a vase.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in a location with at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. Ensure soil is rich, well-draining, and amended with organic matter. Water at the base (avoid getting leaves wet) to prevent fungal diseases. Pruning: Prune in early spring, just as the buds begin to swell (but before leaves emerge). Remove all dead, damaged, or diseased wood, then trim healthy stems back to an outward-facing bud to open up the center of the plant for air circulation.
