FINE LINE® IMPROVED FERNLEAF BUCKTHORN

Fine Line Improved Buckthorn is an improvement over its counterpart: Fine Line. Its habit is more compact and space-saving, and its appearance is more lush and exotic.

Fine Line Improved is an upright open-branched shrub with narrow, glossy, fine textured threadleaf foliage which can be sheared. It is slow-growing and adapts to a wide range of growing conditions, and thrives in full or part sun with well-drained soils. It can tolerate dry conditions once it is established.

Fernleaf Buckthorn Care

Fernleaf Buckthorn is a very adaptable deciduous shrub that is popular because of its exotic look and texture. It requires no pruning, but can be pruned in late winter if rubbing or dead branches need to be removed. It grows well in full or part sun (4-6 hrs sun), and although it performs best with average moisture, it does tolerate dry conditions once established. Buckthorn is perfect for hedging and screening purposes. To ensure the health of your Buckthorn, be sure to space them 3-5 feet from each other when creating a hedge or screen. Also note: They look terrific in containers!

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in full sun with well-draining soil. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
