Pinus densiflora 'Umbraculifera' is commonly referred to as the Japanese Red Pine or Tanyosho Pine. It is a slow-growing, dwarf, vase-shaped, multi-trunked tree with a flat-topped umbrella-like crown. It may reach 15 feet in 30 years. It features bright green needles and a plethora of small seed cones. Mature specimens have exfoliating bark in shades of red and brown.
