TAYLORS SUNBURST LODGEPOLE PINE

Pinus contorta 'Taylor's Sunburst' is commonly referred to as Taylor's Sunburst Lodgepole Pine. It is a unique pine and is noteworthy for its bright golden yellow new growth in spring which gradually fades to a nice yellow green. Tiny red cones also show up in spring which adds to its spectacular spring show. Its bark is an interesting deep red with rough textures. It is a shorter pine and a moderate grower, growing 15 feet tall with a spread of 10 feet.

Taylor's Sunburst Lodgepole Pine is easy to grow. It prefers full sun in average soil and water levels as long as it is well-drained. It can become somewhat drought tolerant once established. It will not survive standing water. It is tolerant of urban pollution and can thrive in city environments.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
