BLUE DIAMOND BLUE SPRUCE

Picea pungens 'Blue Diamond' (Blue Diamond Blue Spruce) is a highly-sought-after cultivar of the Colorado spruce, celebrated for its impressive, year-round silvery-blue foliage. It features a dense, symmetrical pyramidal form, making it a standout specimen in any landscape. It grows slower than the straight species, approximately 6 inches per year, eventually reaching a mature height of 25 feet. This manageable size, combined with its striking color, makes it an excellent choice for a focal point in a garden, a privacy screen, or a windbreak.

Blue Diamond Blue Spruce is also easy to grow and maintain. It's a low-maintenance, deer-resistant conifer that thrives in full sun and a variety of well-drained soils. Once established, 'Blue Diamond' is drought-tolerant and can handle tough conditions, including cold temperatures (USDA Zones 3-8) and urban pollution. It is ideal for a variety of landscape applications including privacy screens, windbreaks, or as a vertical accent in garden beds.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
