SPRING SUNSHINE WHITE SPRUCE
Picea glauca 'Spring Sunshine' is a stunning, slow-growing White Spruce (specifically a mutation of the popular 'Conica') that brings seasonal "glow" to the landscape. It maintains a perfect, dense, upright-conical shape without any pruning, typical of the dwarf Alberta spruce family. What sets it apart is its spectacular creamy-yellow flush of new growth in the spring. For several weeks, it looks as if it is illuminated from within, contrasting beautifully against the older, mature light-green needles. As summer progresses, its bright yellow tones gradually soften to a consistent green.
Like most dwarf white spruces, 'Spring Sunshine' thrives in full sun to very light shade and prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. It is quite hardy but benefits from a location protected from harsh, drying winter winds to prevent needle browning. Because of its compact size and showy spring color, it is ideal for formal entryway containers and rock gardens. Its slow growth and tidy habit also make it a perfect candidate for "miniature" landscapes where its seasonal color shift can be enjoyed up close.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Fertilize in the spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
