SANDERS BLUE ALBERTA SPRUCE

Picea glauca 'Sander's Blue' (Sanders Blue Alberta Spruce) is a striking evergreen conifer ideal for adding vertical structure and unique color to limited garden spaces. A dwarf mutation of the classic Alberta Spruce, it features a dense, perfectly conical form and soft needles that emerge a vibrant steel-blue in spring. Over time, the foliage matures to a deep blue-green, often creating a beautiful bicolored or patchy effect on the tree. Because of its slow growth rate (averaging 3-6 inches per year) and refined texture, it is a perfect choice for rock gardens, formal entryways, or as a container plant that provides year-round architectural interest without becoming overbearing.

Sanders Blue Alberta Spruce should be grown in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It is ideal for adding architectural symmetry to small-scale landscapes, particularly when used in pairs for entryways or garden paths. Its compact, conical shape makes it a great choice for rock gardens and mixed border plantings.
