FIRST EDITIONS® LUCKY DEVIL® NINEBARK

First Editions® Lucky Devil® Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'ZLEMichael' PP34,243) is a compact multi-season interest deciduous shrub that, unlike other shrubs, provides a continuous pop of vibrant yellow color, making it an effortless way to brighten up any garden space. Its tidy, dense habit ensures it fits perfectly into smaller gardens, containers, or as a striking border plant.

Lucky Devil® Ninebark is low-maintenance and thrives in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day) for more vibrant foliage and flowers, but can tolerate partial shade, especially in very hot climates. It enjoys average, loamy, sandy well-drained soils. It can be drought tolerant once it is established after a couple years. This compact, garden gem delivers stunning, season-long yellow foliage that demands attention.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with full sun to partial shade (full sun brings out the best foliage color). Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Mulch around the base to retain moisture. Prune immediately after the spring flowering period to maintain shape and encourage dense growth; avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the flower buds for the coming season.
