WHITE DELIGHT CREEPING PHLOX
Phlox subulata 'White Delight' is a classic and exceptionally vigorous variety of creeping phlox, widely favored for its pure, luminous white blooms and robust growth habit. In mid-to-late spring, 'White Delight' forms a sprawling, low-growing carpet that becomes completely blanketed in star-shaped flowers. It is particularly noted for the clarity of its white petals, which lack any strong contrasting "eye," creating a clean and brilliant visual effect that can brighten even the sunniest rock garden or border. Its dense, needle-like foliage provides a durable, moss-like groundcover that is as functional as it is beautiful, effectively suppressing weeds throughout the growing season.
The ideal spot for 'White Delight' Phlox is a location with full sun and gritty, well-drained soil. It is a tough-as-nails performer that thrives in lean environments where many other perennials might fail, such as sandy slopes or along stone-edged walkways. For the best care, it should be sheared back by about half immediately after the spring flowers have faded. This light pruning encourages a fresh, dense flush of deep green foliage and maintains a tidy, mounded shape, preventing the center of the plant from becoming woody or thin over time.
