MOUNTAINSIDE™ MAJESTIC MAGENTA CREEPING PHLOX

Phlox subulata 'Majestic Magenta' is a standout member of the Mountainside™ series, a collection of hybrid spring phlox specifically bred to be "refined spreaders." This series is prized for its compressed, ground-hugging habit, offering a more controlled and tidy growth compared to traditional creeping phlox. 'Majestic Magenta' produces a dense, moss-like carpet of needle-green foliage that becomes completely blanketed in oversized, rich magenta-purple flowers during mid-spring. The blooms feature a distinct, dark star-shaped eye at the center, creating a high-impact color display that is often timed to coincide perfectly with mid-spring bulbs.

'Majestic Magenta' Phlox thrives in full sun and lean, gritty, and exceptionally well-drained soil; it actually prefers "tough" spots and will struggle in soil that is overly rich or remains soggy. Once established, it is remarkably drought-tolerant and handles the heat and salt spray common in roadside plantings or along paved walkways. After the spring bloom has faded, a light shearing of the foliage will help maintain its tidy, carpet-like shape and encourage a fresh flush of green growth that remains attractive through the winter.
