CANDY TWIST GARDEN PHLOX

Phlox paniculata 'Candy Twist' is a visually stunning Garden Phlox known for its whimsical, bi-color petals that feature alternating stripes of candy-pink and pure white. This unique "pinwheel" pattern creates a vibrant, swirling effect within its large, rounded flower clusters, which release a sweet, honey-like fragrance throughout the mid-to-late summer. Reaching a sturdy height of 18 to 24 inches, this upright phlox serves as an eye-catching focal point in the summer border, consistently drawing in butterflies and hummingbirds with its nectar-rich blooms.

For 'Candy Twist' to maintain its striking color and vigorous growth, it should be planted in a spot that receives full sun, though it can tolerate light afternoon shade in particularly hot climates. It flourishes in rich, moist, and well-drained soil that has been amended with organic matter like compost. To ensure the plant remains healthy, provide plenty of space for air circulation to prevent powdery mildew and keep the soil consistently moist with deep watering at the base of the plant. Deadheading the spent flower panicles will keep the display looking fresh and may encourage a smaller secondary flush of striped blooms as the season wanes.
