BLUE SHADES GARDEN PHLOX
Phlox paniculata 'Blue Shades' is a captivating variety of the classic garden phlox, cherished for its large, rounded clusters of soft lavender-blue flowers that emit a sweet, delicate fragrance. Typically reaching a mid-sized height of 12 to 15 inches, 'Blue Shades' provides a cooling color palette to the summer garden from mid-to-late summer. Its sturdy, upright stems are clothed in lance-shaped, deep green foliage, making it a reliable structural element in the middle of a perennial border where it acts as a magnet for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
To ensure 'Blue Shades' reaches its full potential, it should be planted in a spot that receives full sun to very light dappled shade, as ample light is essential for its most vibrant color and strong stem development. It thrives in rich, organic soil that is well-drained but stays consistently moist, particularly during the peak heat of the summer months.
