Zone: 4BEJEWELED™ PINK PEARLS BEARDTONGUE
Penstemon barbatus Bejeweled™ 'Pink Pearls' is a vibrant, showy perennial bred for its exceptionally dense habit and oversized flowers. It produces sturdy, upright stems topped with large clusters of medium-pink, tubular blooms that appear in late spring and continue through mid-summer. These "pearl-like" flowers stand out brilliantly against a backdrop of lance-shaped, dark blue-green foliage, providing a lush, full look that is much more substantial than the spindly appearance of some older varieties.
True to its P. barbatus heritage, Bejeweled™ 'Pink Pearls' is native to the rocky hillsides of the Southwest, making it incredibly heat and humidity tolerant as well as drought-resistant once established. It reaches a tidy height of 15 to 18 inches, making it an ideal "filler" for the middle of a sunny border or a rock garden. It is hardy in USDA zones 4-8 and, like a true diamond, is remarkably durable as long as it is planted in full sun and very well-drained soil to avoid winter root rot.
