RUBY VASE® PERSIAN PARROTIA

Parrotia persica Ruby Vase® is commonly referred to as Ruby Vase® Persian Ironwood. It is a showy deciduous tree for small spaces. It has a narrow, upright, vase-shaped habit with tight upright branching. In spring, small red flowers bloom in clusters. New leaves emerge in spring with a nice red margin and turn red, orange and purple in fall. Exfoliating gray and tan bark make this selection an all season beauty.

Ruby Vase® Parrotia is low maintenance and perfect for small yards and gardens that need a nice, showy focal point. It thrives in full to part sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH, and ensure it receives full sun to partial shade. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot. Fertilize with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring and summer months. Prune in the late winter or early spring to maintain a desired shape and promote healthy growth. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
