Paeonia 'Red Sarah Bernhardt' (also known as 'Fiona') is a stunning herbaceous peony that captures the legendary form of the original pink 'Sarah Bernhardt' but in a deep, bold palette. This mid-to-late season bloomer produces massive, double "bomb-style" flowers that are a rich, dark crimson or ruby-red. The inner petals are densely ruffled and occasionally feature subtle, darker red streaks, providing a luxurious texture that looks like velvet in the garden.
Reaching a height of 32 to 36 inches, 'Red Sarah Bernhardt' Peony is highly valued for its sweet, light fragrance and its role as a premier cut flower. Because the blooms are so heavy and petal-dense, the stems generally require staking or peony hoops to stay upright, especially during spring rain.
