RASPBERRY SUNDAE PEONY

Paeonia 'Raspberry Sundae' is commonly referred to as Raspberry Sundae Peony. It is a highly coveted cultivar of the common garden peony, famous for its uniquely colored and voluminous double blooms. It features a stunning "bomb" type flower structure, characterized by a central mound of frilly, packed petals surrounded by larger petals. The color is a delightful combination that lives up to its name: the outer, large petals are a rose-pink, while the center is a fluffy mass of creamy white to pale yellow, often streaked or splashed with raspberry-pink, creating a beautiful resemblance to a scoop of ice cream. Maturing to about 24 to 30 inches in height, 'Raspberry Sundae' provides sturdy, upright growth and dark green, deeply lobed foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season, making it an excellent anchor plant for borders and cottage gardens, and a spectacular, fragrant cut flower.

'Raspberry Sundae' Peony thrives in full sun to partial afternoon shade (full sun is usually best for maximum flowering) with nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. Once established, peonies are remarkably long-lived and drought-tolerant, but they benefit from regular watering during their first season and during dry spells. In late fall, cut the foliage back to the ground to prevent any disease.
