Zone: 3PINK HAWAIIAN CORAL PEONY
Paeonia 'Pink Hawaiian Coral' is a stunning, award-winning herbaceous hybrid that is often the first of the coral-toned peonies to bloom in the spring. This semi-double variety features large, cup-shaped blossoms in a luminous shade of deep coral-pink with a center of bright golden-yellow stamens. As the flowers age, they undergo a beautiful color transformation, fading gracefully to soft shades of apricot, peach, and eventually a delicate cream, often resulting in a spectacular multi-toned display on a single plant.
Reaching a height of about 36 inches, 'Pink Hawaiian Coral' is prized for its exceptionally strong, upright stems that typically do not require staking, even when carrying its heavy 6 to 8-inch blooms. While it is technically fragrant, it's worth noting that the scent is quite unique; while some describe it as light and sweet, others find the aroma of coral hybrids to be a bit "earthy" or muskier than the traditional rose-scented varieties. It thrives in full sun and rich, well-drained soil, forming a lush mound of glossy green foliage that remains a healthy garden backdrop long after the "sunset" of its flowers has passed.
