Paeonia 'Coral Charm' is a spectacular, early blooming semi-double peony that is world-renowned for its extraordinary color-changing properties. When the large, cup-shaped buds first open, they reveal a deep, vibrant coral-peach hue with a center of golden-yellow stamens. As the flowers mature over several days, they gracefully fade through shades of soft apricot and warm ivory, often resulting in a plant that displays multiple colors simultaneously. This vigorous hybrid reaches a height of about 30-36 inches and is supported by exceptionally strong, upright stems that rarely require staking compared to heavier double varieties. Its deep green, divided foliage remains lush and attractive throughout the summer, making it a prized choice for both professional floral designers and home gardeners alike.
To achieve the most intense coral coloration, 'Coral Charm' should be planted in a location that receives full sun, as at least six to eight hours of direct light are necessary for its vigorous growth and prolific flowering. It thrives in rich, fertile, and well-drained soil; like most peonies, it is highly susceptible to root rot if left in standing water or heavy, soggy clay. When planting, it is critical to ensure the "eyes" or buds are set no deeper than 1 to 2 inches below the soil surface to guarantee future blooms.
