PINK EVENING PRIMROSE
Oenothera speciosa is commonly known as Evening Primrose. This fragrant beauty has a sprawling habit with lance-shaped, toothed, green leaves. It features bowl-shaped, four petaled, white flowers with yellow anthers that bloom from May to July. Flowers mature to rosy pink as the season progresses. A unique primrose feature is the flowers open in the evening and remain open until late morning. Flowers are followed by oval seed capsules bearing wings, ready to blow in the wind.
Evening Primrose is easy to grow and care for. It enjoys full sun in evenly moist, well-drained soils. It can tolerate some afternoon shade and can be drought tolerant once established. Ideal for meadows, wildflower gardens and any informal naturalized areas.
