CATS PAJAMAS CATMINT
Nepeta 'Cat's Pajamas' is a stellar dwarf selection of Catmint that offers a massive floral display on a remarkably small frame. It is a Proven Winners' selection that reaches a compact height of just 12 to 15 inches, it forms a dense, rounded mound of fragrant, grayish-green foliage that stays tidy throughout the season. What sets 'Cat's Pajamas' apart is its incredible bloom power; unlike taller Catmints that can get "floppy" in the center, 'Cat's Pajamas' produces vibrant indigo-blue flowers that bloom from the soil line to the tips of the stems. It begins flowering several weeks earlier than most other varieties, providing an essential early-season nectar source for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while remaining naturally resistant to deer and rabbits.
To keep 'Cat's Pajamas' looking its best, choose an ideal spot in full sun with well-drained soil. It is exceptionally hardy and drought-tolerant once established, making it a perfect candidate for rock gardens, dry borders, or as a colorful "spiller" in patio containers. It thrives in average to poor soil and actually prefers to stay on the drier side; over-fertilizing or planting it in overly rich, soggy ground can lead to lush foliage at the expense of its iconic blue blooms.
