Monarda 'Cranberry Lace' is a stunning dwarf Bee Balm that offers a sophisticated, jewel-toned display on a remarkably compact frame, typically reaching only 9 to 12 inches in height. It is celebrated for its unique, ruffled clusters of deep rosy-pink to cranberry-red flowers that emerge from tinted bracts, creating a multi-dimensional look from mid-to-late summer. The foliage is a rich, dark green and possesses a delightful minty fragrance that effectively deters deer and rabbits while acting as a high-energy magnet for hummingbirds and butterflies. Its shorter stature and mounding habit make it an ideal edging plant for sunny walkways or a vibrant, aromatic addition to patio containers.
The ideal spot for 'Cranberry Lace' is a location in full sun to very light shade with rich, organic soil that remains consistently moist but well-draining. Unlike many older varieties, 'Cranberry Lace' was specifically bred for high resistance to powdery mildew, though it still performs best when given enough space to allow for excellent air circulation.
