COMPACT OREGON GRAPE HOLLY
Mahonia aquifolium 'Compacta' is commonly referred to as Compact Oregon Grape Holly. It is an excellent, lower growing, evergreen shrub with spikey clusters of yellow flowers followed by blue berries. New growth is an attractive bronze-red, turning glossy deep green in summer and maturing to purplish-red in late fall and winter. It is a smaller version of the Oregon Grape Holly. At maturity it reaches 3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide.
Compact Oregon Grape Holly is easy to grow and very low maintenance. It thrives in partial shade in acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal as a small hedge or for shaded rock gardens.
