OREGON GRAPE HOLLY

Mahonia aquifolium is commonly referred to as Oregon Grape Holly or Holly-leaved Barberry. It is an upright, evergreen shrub with showy new growth of bronze-red and attractive bright yellow flowers in early spring. Blue berries follow the flowers while the foliage turns bronze to purplish-red in fall and winter.

Oregon Grape Hilly performs best in partial shade in acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Best to avoid hot, dry soils and strong wind areas.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in the spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
