Magnolia x soulangiana 'Jurmag1' PPAF is commonly referred to as Black Tulip™ Magnolia. This saucer hybrid Magnolia is noteworthy for it being the darkest, most dramatic tulip magnolia yet! It features a small, slender, multi-stemmed habit with deep burgundy to dark purple blooms that are six inches wide and appear before foliage emerges in early spring. It blooms over a long period of time and may experience a second flush of blooms in midsummer.
Black Tulip™ Magnolia thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, slightly acidic, organically rich, well-drained soils. This is a wonderful specimen plant and grows well in urban environments. Ideal for city or cottage gardens.
