WHITE SHIELD OSAGE ORANGE

White Shield Osage Orange is a tough, fast-growing, thornless, deciduous tree. Maclura is considered to be one of the most dependable trees for harsh areas. It has glossy, dark green leaves that mature to bright yellow in fall.

Most notably, the White Shield Osage Orange is a male - fruitless - cultivar so no need to fear large fruit falling from overhead. This is a tough urban tree that can tolerate most everything including drought and heat. It enjoys full sun and average, well-drained soil.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
