STARSHIP™ DEEP ROSE CARDINAL FLOWER

The Lobelia speciosa Starship™ Deep Rose is a high-performing hybrid Cardinal Flower prized for its extended bloom time and striking color combination. It features long; strictly upright flower spikes covered with deep rose-pink, two-lipped flowers that stand out beautifully against the foliage. It has a compact, well-branched habit, typically growing to 18-24 inches tall with an upright, columnar form. Its medium-to-dark green foliage, often accompanied by dark or nearly black flower stems, provides a dramatic contrast, creating significant vertical interest in the mid-to-late summer and early fall garden.

As a moisture-loving perennial (hardy in zones 6-10), Starship™ Deep Rose thrives in full sun to part shade when planted in deep, fertile, and reliably moist soil. It is an ideal choice for challenging wet areas like bog gardens, rain gardens, or along the edges of ponds and streams. In drier garden settings, it requires regular watering to keep the soil consistently damp, and afternoon shade is beneficial, especially in hotter climates. It's a low-maintenance plant that is deer and rabbit resistant, and a favorite of hummingbirds and butterflies. Removing spent flower spikes (deadheading) can help encourage a longer bloom period.
