Zone: 4GREAT BLUE CARDINAL FLOWER
Lobelia siphilitica is more commonly known as Great Blue Lobelia or Great Blue Cardinal Flower. It is a North American native that shines bright in the late summer garden. It features an upright habit with long-lasting blue spike flowers atop finely toothed green foliage from late summer to mid-fall. It is a wonderful pollinator magnet for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Great Blue Cardinal Flower is deer and rabbit resistant and thrives in part sun in nutrient-rich, humusy, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It is ideal for beds, borders and woodland gardens. Deadhead for neat appearance and to encourage rebloom. No need to cut back in fall, just mulch lightly.
