STRAIGHT TALK® PRIVET

Ligustrum vulgare 'Swift' Straight Talk® is commonly referred to as Straight Talk® Privet. It is noteworthy for being a natural substitute for the Sky Pencil Holly in colder climates. It features a narrow, upright habit very similar to the Sky Pencil.

Straight Talk Privet is deer resistant, cold hard and drought tolerant. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in average, well-drained soils. More color comes from more sun! Ideal as a hedge, border, or accent plant.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil, selecting a location that receives full sun to partial shade for the best density and foliage color. These shrubs are highly adaptable to various soil conditions and exhibit excellent drought tolerance once established, requiring supplemental water primarily during the first season to ensure success. Prune as needed throughout the growing season, as these plants are extremely tolerant of shearing and respond well to heavy trimming to maintain hedges or formal shapes. If you prefer a more natural habit, prune lightly in late winter or early spring to remove dead wood and encourage vigorous new growth.
