SILVER PRINCESS SHASTA DAISY
Leucanthemum x superbum 'Silver Princess' is a charming, compact Shasta Daisy that provides a classic, cheerful look in the summer garden. It is highly valued for its prolific production of crisp, white petals surrounding a bright yellow center, all held on sturdy, relatively short stems. Because of its neat, low-growing habit, it is an ideal choice for the front of a perennial border, rock gardens, or as a reliable filler in containers. The foliage is a deep, healthy green, creating a sharp contrast that makes the white blooms appear even more luminous against the landscape.
To keep 'Silver Princess' looking its best, site it in a position that receives full sun; while it can tolerate light afternoon shade, consistent sun is necessary to prevent the stems from becoming weak or floppy. It prefers average, well-draining soil and is quite adaptable, though it does not tolerate heavy, waterlogged conditions, particularly during the winter. To encourage a second wave of blooms and maintain a tidy appearance, deadhead the spent flowers throughout the summer. It is a hardy, resilient performer in USDA Zones 5 through 9, and dividing the clumps every few years in the spring or fall will ensure it remains vigorous and floriferous for seasons to come.
