Leucanthemum superbum 'Coconut', a highly innovative introduction from the Realflor® series, is a striking Shasta Daisy that brings a completely fresh texture to the classic perennial border. It stands out immediately due to its uniquely shaggy, multi-layered flowers; the blooms feature layers of pristine white, fringed petals that open to reveal a rich, golden-yellow center, giving each flower a delightfully fluffy, nest-like appearance. Borne on exceptionally strong, wind-resistant stems, these distinct blossoms rise above a compact, tidy mound of glossy, deep green, lance-shaped foliage. Reaching a mature height and spread of roughly 18 to 24 inches, 'Coconut' offers a heavily branched habit that ensures a massive quantity of flowers from mid-summer straight into autumn, making it a stellar choice for both premium container designs and front-of-the-border color.
To maximize the performance of Coreopsis 'Coconut', the ideal spot is a location in full sun where it can receive at least six hours of direct sunlight daily to support its heavy blooming cycle and keep the stems rigid. It thrives best in fertile, consistently moist, but sharply well-draining soil; heavy clay that holds standing water must be avoided, particularly in winter, to prevent root rot.
