LAVANDULA ANG SUPERBLUE
Grower Notes:

Lavandula angustifolia 'Superblue' (Superblue Lavander) is a highly popular and compact English lavender cultivar, notable for its exceptional flower power and vibrant, deep violet-blue bloom color, which is more saturated than many other varieties. It forms a neat, mounded, evergreen shrub with aromatic, silvery-gray-green foliage, typically staying small at just 9-12 inches tall and 6-12 inches wide, making it an excellent choice for containers, path edging, and low borders. 'Superblue' is known for its free-flowering habit and production of plump flower spikes from late spring through summer, with the potential for re-bloom if spent flowers are promptly removed. It also exhibits good heat and humidity tolerance, a valuable trait for a species that prefers a dry Mediterranean climate.

'Superblue' Lavender thrives in full sun (at least 6-8 hours daily) and perfectly well-drained, lean soil - sandy or gritty is best. It is highly drought-tolerant once established, and overwatering or poor drainage is its main weakness, often leading to root rot. For care, keep the watering light, avoid heavy fertilization, and prune lightly after the first flush of blooms to encourage re-blooming and maintain its tidy, dense, non-woody form. The heavily fragrant blooms are excellent for cutting, drying, and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies while remaining deer and rabbit resistant.
