PLATINUM BLONDE ENGLISH LAVENDER
Lavandula angustifolia 'Platinum Blonde' is more commonly known as Platinum Blonde Lavender. It is a beautiful cultivar of English lavender prized primarily for its unique, decorative variegated foliage, setting it apart from classic lavender varieties. The broad, aromatic leaves are a silvery-green with striking creamy-yellow to white margins, providing an eye-catching, glowing effect that remains attractive throughout the year as an evergreen. It features the traditional, fragrant blue-violet flowers of English lavender on long stems, which bloom profusely from late spring through summer, adding a lovely contrast to the bright foliage. It is compact, typically growing to about 18-24 inches tall and 15-18 inches wide, making it a perfect accent plant for borders, rock gardens, or especially containers where its unique coloration can be easily appreciated.
Like all English lavenders, 'Platinum Blonde' requires full sun (at least six hours daily) and exceptional soil drainage to prevent root rot. Plant it in lean, well-drained, sandy, or gritty soil, as it is naturally drought-tolerant once established and cannot tolerate wet feet, particularly in winter. A light pruning in early spring to shape the plant, and deadheading spent blooms, will encourage dense growth and a longer flowering period.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly alkaline pH. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season. Fertilize lightly in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.
