WHITE NANCY DEADNETTLE

Lamium maculatum 'White Nancy', commonly known as 'White Nancy' Spotted Deadnettle, is a charming, mat-forming herbaceous perennial highly valued as a groundcover, particularly for shady areas. It boasts striking, heart-shaped, variegated foliage, which features a silvery-white center with thin green margins, giving it a luminous appearance in low light. It typically grows to a height of 6 to 9 inches and can spread 24-30 inches, rooting along its sprawling stems to form a dense, weed-suppressing carpet. In late spring to early summer, small, hooded, pure white flowers appear in whorls above the foliage, adding a delicate texture and enhancing its brightening effect.

'White Nancy' Deadnettle is easy to care for. It is deer and rabbit resistant and thrives in partial to full shade. Plant it in average, medium-moisture, well-drained soil. It is ideally suited for under trees, shrubs or along a north-facing foundation where other plants struggle.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season. Fertilize lightly in the spring with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in the spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
