Zone: 6ZUNI CRAPEMYRTLE
Lagerstroemia Zuni is commonly referred to as Zuni Crapemyrtle. This is a cross between Lagerstroemia indica and Lagerstroemia fauriei. It is a hardy, fast-growing, deciduous, upright spreading, multi-stemmed shrub with attractive clusters of light purple panicle blooms from July to September. Flowers give way to seed capsules which persist into winter. It is noteworthy for its excellent mildew resistance and attractive exfoliating gray bark. In fall its glossy green leaves turn a showy orange-red.
The Zuni Crapemyrtle thrives in full sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It performs best in an area sheltered from cold winter winds.
