Zone: 4PEPPERMINT MOUNTAIN LAUREL
Kalmia latifolia 'Peppermint' is commonly referred to as Peppermint Mountain Laurel. It is a compact, densely-branched, broadleaf evergreen shrub with attractive glossy dark green leaves that have a leathery texture. Foliage often emerges with a reddish-bronze tint before turning dark green. Pink buds emerge in early spring followed by flowers that open white with dark red lines radiating up the sides.
Peppermint Mountain Laurel thrives in partial sun in rich, organic, highly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils that are heavily mulched. It will not tolerate standing water. This attractive plant with its cute mini carnival ride flowers is a favorite of many and can be expected to live for 50+ years.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Provide partial shade, especially during the first growing season. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
