DAISY MAE JAPANESE ASTER
Kalimeris integrifolia 'Daisy Mae' is more commonly known as Daisy Mae Japanese Aster. It is an outstanding, long-blooming perennial celebrated for its durability and profusion of classic white flowers. It forms a dense, mounded clump of dark green foliage, typically reaching a height and spread of 24-30 inches. From early summer well into fall, 'Daisy Mae' becomes blanketed in a spectacular cloud of 1-inch white, daisy-like flowers with cheerful golden-yellow centers, which are excellent for cutting and create a lovely visual contrast against the deep green leaves. Its compact and self-cleaning nature ensures a neat appearance throughout its exceptionally long bloom period, making it a reliable staple for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator plantings.
The remarkable resilience of 'Daisy Mae' makes it one of the easiest perennials to grow, thriving in a variety of conditions where many others fail. It prefers a location in full sun but will tolerate partial shade, and while it appreciates average, well-drained soil, it is highly tolerant of both dry and moist conditions. It is generally pest-free, deer and rabbit resistant, and an excellent source of nectar for butterflies and beneficial native bees.
