Zone: 4YELLOW TAIL SIBERIAN IRIS
'Yellow Tail' Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica 'Yellow Tail') is a distinctive and highly sought-after Siberian Iris cultivar, valued for introducing a nuanced yellow tone to the typically blue and purple spectrum of this species. The eye-catching, semi-double blooms feature pure white or frosted white standards that contrast beautifully with the flaring falls, which open a striking chartreuse green and quickly fade to a lovely chartreuse or primrose yellow. This coloration is further highlighted by canary yellow veining and signals at the throat. Blooming in late spring to early summer on strong, upright stems that reach heights of 2-3 feet, the ruffles and gentle flow of the petals give the flowers a graceful, butterfly-like appearance.
'Yellow Tail' Siberian Iris thrives in the same conditions that suit other Siberian Irises, preferring full sun to partial shade and a moist, fertile, slightly acidic, and well-drained soil. It is noted for its high tolerance to wet conditions, making it an excellent candidate for planting near water features, in bog gardens, or in rain gardens, though it can withstand drier periods once established.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in fertile, moisture-retentive soil with a slightly acidic pH. Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season, especially during bloom time. Provide full sun to partial shade. Remove spent flower stalks to maintain a tidy appearance throughout the season.
