IRIS SIB MISS APPLE
Grower Notes:

'Miss Apple' Sibirian Iris (Iris sibirica 'Miss Apple') is a celebrated Siberian Iris variety, highly prized for introducing a deep, vibrant red-to-mulberry hue that is relatively uncommon in this species. Its fragrant flowers, which appear in late spring to early summer, are a stunning contrast of colors: the ruffled falls (lower petals) are a rich, velvety deep red or mulberry, dramatically accented with a bright splash of yellow-gold at the throat, while the standards (upright petals) are a contrasting magenta or violet-pink. Growing to an average height of about 24-30 inches, the blossoms rise above the dense, neat clump of slender, sword-like, blue-green foliage, which retains its clean, upright appearance all season long, making it an excellent architectural plant.

'Miss Apple' is a hardy and trouble-free Iris that thrives across a broad range of conditions (USDA Zones 3-9). For the best flowering display, plant 'Miss Apple' in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. It is notably adaptable and one of the best irises for tolerating wet sites, making it a perfect choice for rain gardens, pond edges, or moist borders. It is also highly valued for its deer and rabbit resistance. To ensure continued health and abundant blooming, keep the soil consistently moist during the spring and summer, and divide the clumps every few years when they become overcrowded or woody.
