IMMORTALITY BEARDED IRIS

Iris germanica 'Immortality' ('Immortality' Bearded Iris) is a highly sought-after reblooming white iris. It produces fragrant, ruffled blooms that are a pristine, pure white, highlighted by a subtle, creamy white to pale yellow beard at the center of the falls. Rising to an intermediate height of about 2-3 feet on strong, well-branched stalks, it offers a major flush of flowers in late spring to early summer, followed by a welcome second crop of blooms in the late summer or early fall, which makes it a great choice for extending the iris season in the garden. This award-winner quickly forms handsome clumps of blue-green, sword-like foliage, making it a vigorous, sweet-scented focal point ideal for cutting, borders, and foundation plantings.

'Immortality' Bearded Iris requires a minimum of six hours of full sun daily and, most critically, excellent soil drainage to prevent the rhizomes from rotting. Like other bearded irises, the rhizome should be planted horizontally at or just barely above the soil surface. 'Immortality' thrives across USDA Zones 3-9 and is naturally resistant to deer and rabbits, making it an easy-care addition to most landscapes.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: For Iris germanica types - Plant in well-draining, sunny soil. When planting, ensure the top of the rhizome is slightly exposed to the air; burying it too deep is a common cause of rot. Water regularly to establish, but avoid overwatering, as this plant prefers drier conditions than many other perennials. Remove spent flower stalks at the base once blooming finishes to maintain a tidy appearance and support plant health.
