IRIS GER FRINGE OF GOLD
Grower Notes:

Iris germanica 'Fringe of Gold' ('Fringe of Gold' Bearded Iris) is a classic and prized Bearded Iris known for its two-toned blooms that add a burst of sunshine to the late spring and early summer garden. This tall variety, reaching approximately 30 to 36 inches in height, features nicely ruffled, deep canary-yellow standards (the upright petals) floating above crisp, snow-white falls (the drooping petals). The most distinguishing feature, which gives the iris its name, is a striking, golden-yellow ribbon or fringe elegantly edging the white falls, often with rich golden tones radiating from the deep canary-yellow beard at the center. This robust selection is a mid-to-late season bloomer, with each sturdy, upright flower stem typically boasting 5 to 6 buds, ensuring a long-lasting and impressive floral display.

'Fringe of Gold' Bearded Iris requires a site with full sun (at least six hours daily) and absolutely essential well-drained soil, as its thick rhizomes are highly susceptible to rot in wet conditions. It is a very hardy and low-maintenance plant, thriving across USDA 3 to 9 Zones, and is noted for its tolerance to drought, as well as being resistant to both deer and rabbits.
