Zone: 4BEVERLY SILLS BEARDED IRIS
Iris germanica 'Beverly Sills' is a highly celebrated cultivar of the Tall Bearded Iris, known for its stunning and vibrant floral display. It produces large, showy flowers with an exciting coral-pink or flamingo pink color, often described as having a delicate, lacy, and ruffled form. As a Tall Bearded Iris, 'Beverly Sills' is statuesque, typically reaching a height of 30-36 inches. It is a robust and popular Iris, acclaimed for being a fast grower and a heavy bloomer. It is a prized rebloomer, offering a spectacular show first in late spring to early summer, and often providing a second, though sometimes less profuse, round of blooms in late summer or early fall.
For successful growth, 'Beverly Sills' thrives in full sun exposure, although it can tolerate some light afternoon shade. It grows from thick, fleshy rhizomes and requires well-drained soil, as poor drainage can lead to rot; light sandy soils are ideal. To maintain plant health and encourage vigorous blooming, the rhizomes should be planted shallowly, with the top portion slightly exposed to the sun. Routine maintenance includes removing spent flower stems after blooming and dividing overcrowded clumps every three to four years.
