CASTLE SPIRE® BLUE HOLLY

Ilex x meserveae 'Hachfee' Proven Winners® Color Choice® Castle Spire® is commonly referred to as Castle Spire® Holly. This Proven Winners® Color Choice® selection is a broadleaf evergreen female Meserve Holly with a compact, upright, pyramidal form. It features small, oval, serrated, deep green leaves. Bright red berries mature in fall and remain on the plant throughout winter which the birds love. It will need a male variety, such as Castle Wall® Holly, in order to produce fruit. One male plant will pollinate up to 5 female plants within 50 feet of one another.

Castle Spire® Holly thrives in full sun to partial shade in rich, acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is used for borders, screens, hedges and foundation plantings.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Water it regularly, but avoid overwatering. Provide a well-draining soil mix and a slightly acidic pH. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune it annually to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
