Ilex crenata 'Northern Beauty' is commonly referred to as Northern Beauty Japanese Holly. It is a vigorous evergreen shrub that features a lower growth habit than a boxwood and is more spreading. Its foliage is dark green and glossy with small, ovate to elliptic, scalloped edges. Berries are small and black. Its leaves are larger than most other Ilex crenata cultivars.
