GREEN LUSTER FEMALE JAPANESE HOLLY
Ilex crenata 'Green Lustre' is commonly referred to as Green Lustre Japanese Holly. It is a dense, multi-stemmed, low-growing shrub with an excellent branching habit and lustrous dark green evergreen foliage and showy black fruit in late summer. It is easy to grow and best pruned in late winter once the extreme cold has passed.
Green Lustre Holly thrives in full sun to partial shade and is hardier than many Japanese hollies. It enjoys rich, acidic, moist soils and will tolerate some standing water at times. It is tolerant of urban pollution and salt, and can thrive in city environments. It is ideal as a low hedge and is a good sub for boxwood.
