SNOWSATION™ CANDYTUFT
Iberis sempervirens Snowsation™ is distinguished by its exceptionally large, brilliant white flower clusters and its consistently uniform, compact growth habit. Forming a tidy, mounding cushion of dark green, evergreen foliage, Snowsation™ typically reaches a manageable height of 6-9 inches with a spread of 6-12 inches, making it one of the most compact and floriferous selections available. In mid-to-late spring, Snowsation™ is completely submerged beneath a "snowsation" of white blooms that last for many weeks.
For optimal performance, full sun is recommended for Snowsation™ Candytuft to maximize its heavy bloom production, though it can tolerate light shade. Like all Candytuft varieties, the key to its success is providing sharply well-drained soil; it is drought-tolerant once established and thrives in lean, even rocky or sandy, neutral to slightly alkaline conditions, but is highly susceptible to root rot in heavy, soggy soil, especially during winter. To maintain its dense, compact form and encourage fresh foliage, it is essential to shear the plant back lightly by about one-third immediately after the spring flowering period concludes, ensuring not to prune in late summer or fall, as this removes the following season's buds. Snowsation™ is noted for being quite frost-tolerant, performing reliably across USDA Zones 4-9.
