TUFF STUFF™ MOUNTAIN HYDRANGEA

Hydrangea serrata 'SMNMAKTSR' PP28672 is commonly referred to as Tuff Stuff™ Mountain Hydrangea. It is a new edition from the Proven Winners® mountain hydrangea collection. This hardy variety features large, lacecap deep pink-red flowers with deep green foliage. It blooms in early summer on old wood and continues to produce blooms on new wood through autumn. It is a stunning display of color for such a small, compact plant.

Tuff Stuff™ Mountain Hydrangea thrives in partial sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Flower color depends on soil pH - acidic soil will produce bluer flowers and a more alkaline soil will produce pinkish flowers.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil with a slightly acidic pH. For pink and blue varieties, bloom color is pH-dependent; keep soil slightly acidic for blue tones or adjust toward neutral for pink. Provide a location with morning sun and afternoon shade to protect the foliage from heat stress. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, as this variety is sensitive to drying out. Prune sparingly and only immediately after flowering to maintain shape; avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the following season's flower buds.
