RUBY SLIPPERS OAKLEAF HYDRANGEA
Hydrangea quercifolia 'Ruby Slippers' is commonly referred to as Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea. It is a hybridization of oakleaf hydrangea cultivars: Hydrangea 'Snow Queen' x Hydrangea 'Pee Wee'. It is noteworthy for its compact habit which matures to only 3-5 feet tall and wide. It has exceptionally large flower clusters in summer which are very showy up against its handsome, dark green oak-shaped leaves. Blossoms open white then quickly age to deep pink, remaining upright through its growing season. Foliage takes on a mahogany red fall color and features exfoliating bark to add an additional dimension of attraction.
Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea thrives in filtered light in rich, organic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal as a specimen or accent plant or in woodland shrub borders. It can be grown in containers or small gardens.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly until established; once mature, this variety is more drought-tolerant than other hydrangeas, though it prefers consistent moisture.
