GATSBY PINK® OAKLEAF HYDRANGEA

Hydrangea quercifolia 'JoAnn' PP27879 is commonly referred to as Gatsby Pink® Oakleaf Hydrangea. This Proven Winners® Color Choice® selection features fragrant, large, white lacecap flowers that quickly transform to beautiful bright pink during the growing season and persist through frost. It blooms on old wood. It continuously produces new flowers so it always looks attractive and fresh. Handsome dark green, oak-shaped leaves turn a brilliant burgundy red in fall.

Gatsby Pink® Oakleaf Hydrangea thrives in filtered light in rich, organic, evenly moist, well-drained soils. This native species is salt tolerant and low maintenance - no pruning needed! Truly a four-season show for your landscape.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. While adaptable to various light conditions, they perform best with morning sun and afternoon shade. Water regularly until established; once mature, this variety is more drought-tolerant than other hydrangeas, though it prefers consistent moisture. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune sparingly and only immediately after flowering to maintain shape; avoid pruning in late winter or early spring, as this will remove the following season's flower buds.
