FIRST EDITIONS® LITTLE HOTTIE® PANICLE HYDRANGEA

Hydrangea paniculata 'Bailpanone' PP32549 is commonly referred to as Little Hottie® Panicle Hydrangea. It is a First Editions® selection with a well-branched, compact habit with serrated green leaves and strong, sturdy stems. It has very full flower heads with florets that emerge green and turn to sparkling white as the season progresses. In fall the flowers turn a soft pink. Flowers bring in all the pollinators, especially butterflies. Little Hottie® was bred in Georgia for heat tolerance and its flowers do not burn or turn brown due to heat stress. It performs equally well in cooler climates such as Minnesota.

Panicle Hydrangeas, such as Little Hottie®, bloom on new growth, typically flowering normally even if cut back or killed by frost the previous season. It thrives in filtered sun in rich, organic, evenly moist, well-drained soils.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil in a location that receives full sun to partial shade. Water regularly until established; once mature, this variety is adaptable and reasonably drought-tolerant. Prune in late winter or early spring to shape and encourage strong new growth, as this plant flowers on "new wood." Provide structural support for larger cultivars, as their heavy flower heads may require staking if exposed to high winds or heavy rain.
